Katie Stumbo joined the Northeast Kentucky Area Health Education Center in December 2023 as an Outreach Services Coordinator. In this role, Katie will work directly with high schools and high school students, leading classroom presentations focusing on health careers and substance use prevention.

Katie is a recent graduate of Morehead State University. She completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Sciences. She has actively been involved with AHEC throughout her time in undergrad. Katie served as the Vice President of the KRHA Student Chapter for two consecutive years and held numerous other leadership roles on Morehead State University’s campus.

Katie was raised in Knott County. She grew up loving the mountains of Appalachia and knew she wanted to be here for the rest of her life. From a young age, Katie knew she wanted to be a doctor. Growing up, she almost always had a book in her hand. A few weeks ago, she was accepted into the University of Kentucky College of Medicine Rural Physician Leadership Program Class of 2028. She is super excited and grateful for this upcoming journey.

Fun fact: Katie loves to travel. She has been to eight countries and 25 states. She is hoping to travel more within the next few years.
