On Sept. 15, KaSandra Hensley, Project Director, and Brittany Herrington, Coordinator for the First Day Forward Program (Rural Communities Opioid Response Program (RCORP) Implementation II grant project) presented with Technical Expert Lead Jason Harris at the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) RCORP Planning III Reverse Site Visit.
Their presentation, entitled “Pre and Post Release Jail Collaboration: A Local Perspective”, was an overview of how fellow grantees could join forces with their own local detention centers, and how the Northeast Kentucky Substance Use Response Coalition started doing so with their First Day Forward program.
All grantees within HRSA’s Planning III grant program were required to attend the Reverse Site Visit, and there were 30 who chose to attend this particular session and hear about the Coalition’s First Day Forward initiative.
“It was exciting to be asked to participate in the meeting,” KaSandra said. “We hope others will hear our success story and seek out new partnerships in their own home communities.”
