Northeast Kentucky AHEC Presents at National Conference about Opioid Grant

MOREHEAD – On July 2, David A. Gross, KaLeigh Hemminger, and KaSandra Hensley presented at the 2021 National AHEC Organization Biennial Conference. Their presentation, titled “An Update on How a Regional AHEC is Leading a Multi-Partner, Multi-Project Battle Against the Opioid Epidemic” gave an overview of the six federally-funded grant projects the Northeast Kentucky Substance Use Response Coalition has been awarded. This kind of grant work is outside the scope of what most AHECs normally do, so their talk helped other AHECs to see why these different kinds of projects are important not just to the regions they serve, but also internally for personal growth and financial stability.

Hemminger serves as the Coalition’s Director while Gross and Hensley serve as project directors and key Coalition staff for the group. However, they also represent the Northeast KY AHEC and its host organization, St. Claire HealthCare.
