Youth prevention education is an element that runs throughout multiple of our grant-funded projects. A cornerstone for many of the Coalition’s members, engaging with young students is an opportunity to break generational cycles of substance abuse, substance use disorder, and related issues. We do not take this responsibility lightly and are thankful for the opportunities to teach students through not only educational curriculum but also through the firsthand experience of our trusted peer support specialists.
Currently, our grant projects are presenting the Generation Rx curriculum. Created by the Cardinal Health Foundation and The Ohio State College of Pharmacy, these age-appropriate lessons are engaging and informative, and teach students the potential dangers of misusing prescription medications. By adding in personal stories from local peer support specialists, our presentations show students a full-circle story of how someone from their own home community came to know addiction and recovery.
If you’re interested in scheduling a presentation for your school, club, youth group, etc., please contact us.
